MealPlans.nl: the week is the product, not a pile of recipes

How we built MealPlans.nl: personal weekly menus with a shopping list from the recipes, and no invented reviews.

Client: Label111

MealPlans.nl is our own platform. A household does not need a pile of loose recipes. It needs a week that fits the goal, the time and the allergies: and then one shopping list.

Problem

Recipe sites dump a catalogue and leave the planning to the visitor. Anyone trying to lose weight, cook keto, or feed four people in half an hour has to puzzle it out. Invented reviews and nutrition that does not match the ingredient list make that worse. The shopping list never appears: it stays a scrap of paper next to the tablet.

Approach

Weekly menus from goal and preference, recipes with portions, a shopping list that comes from those recipes, and a cost indication per supermarket. No invented reviews.

What we built

What this proves for you If the real work starts after the recipe: planning, portions, shopping: then a catalogue is the wrong product. The product is the week, and the list that follows from it. We run this ourselves. If a weekly menu does not match the shopping list, that is our problem at the kitchen table, not a ticket from a client. Technology Laravel and Filament for recipes, ingredients and publishing. React on the public site: weekly menu, list, knowledge base. What we cannot calculate from the recipes, we do not put on the page as fact.
