MoreFights.eu: events for fans, matchmaking for gyms
How we built MoreFights.eu: a public event front end for fans, and a back end for matchmaking between gyms and promoters.
Client: Patrick Beukema
MoreFights.eu is VKP’s combat-sports platform. A public calendar for fans: events, fight cards, tickets. Behind login: matchmaking for gyms and promoters.
Problem
Fans look for a fight night. Gyms and promoters have to fill the card. Those two jobs do not belong in the same UI. The public site should only show what is actually on the card. Behind login sits matchmaking: open slots, applications, opponents. A giant fighter directory is already stale the day after a card change.
Approach
A React front end for the public events. Laravel and Filament in the back end for matchmaking between gyms and promoters. What is confirmed there lands on the card; the page follows, we do not wrap it in a blog post.
What we built
What this proves for you A fight platform has two sides that do not fit on one landing page. Fans want the next fight night, the card and a ticket. Gyms and promoters need to make matches: who is looking for an opponent, who has an open slot. The public site is the event calendar. The back end is matchmaking. What appears on the card comes from that matching: not from a homepage rewritten by hand. Technology React on the public event front end. Laravel and Filament in the back end for gyms, promoters and matchmaking. Posters, bouts and ticket links on the site come from that data; what is not there, we do not invent.
